Where To Bet The COD League

One of the biggest first-person shooters in video-gaming, Call of Duty is a worldwide recognized brand, regardless of whether you yourself play or not. This has also led to it becoming an international eSport, which is where the COD League comes in, bringing players together from all over the world. So here we’ll take a look at the league, seeing how you can potentially turn a profit from it when betting.

Prior to becoming the COD League in 2020, the CDL was originally comprised of the COD World League, and the COD Pro League, before being rebranded. The COD World League began back in 2016, before being discontinued in favor of the franchise model of the League as it is now. This would also be the same for the Pro League, which had been running since 2014, as it operated alongside the World League. Run by the game’s developers Activision, they oversee and manage the entire event, which they’ve done ever since the eSport first started, and continue to do so to this day.

What this has done is it’s managed to increase the level of talent to an even wider audience, raising the professionalism in the process. Where does your money come in though, and what should you be looking out for when putting down any kind of wager?

What is The COD League?

2020 was the year that the first COD League was held, incorporating the World and Pro leagues, with the United States, Canada, the UK, and France taking part. This new version of the event would see cities having their own teams, whilst they’d have their ownership groups separate, acting independently. Initially running alongside the Call of Duty Challengers, and the Call of Duty League City Circuit, the League itself would become the primary competition for all COD eSports.

Starting with twelve teams, each one would be situated in a global city, as the league format itself uses a regular season and playoff structure. The league has incorporated several COD versions into its proceedings in past years, including:

  • Black Ops III: Based around the 2015 iteration of the game, this tournament typically takes place across two stages and opens, with a Championship towards the end of the Summer.
  • WWII: Coming out in 2017, this version of COD set in World War 2 would become it’s own tournament, with the Championship also taking place during the Summer season.
  • Black Ops 4: Starting out in 2018, this would also come to make up the CWL Pro League the following year, with the Summer Championship following it.
  • Infinite Warfare: Released in 2016, this installment of COD was set in outer-space, meaning the mechanics of the environment was different, taking place alongside the rest during Summer.

Changing often, Call of Duty is a game that consistently updates itself, whilst keeping most of the central core mechanics the same. What does this mean for your bet though, and how can you best identify where the winners will come from over the course of the COD League?

Common COD League Questions:

What bets are typically offered and who should I look out for?:

Firstly you’ll find that the most widely available bets are the overall wagers concerning themselves with match outcome and overall results. Following this will be the individual matches, and there can be more unique bets and props, all depending upon availability around the time of the matches. Given this, what you want to do is spread out your bets, using lines and experimenting to find odds that will be more agreeable to you. The players themselves can also give you some indication of how a match will proceed, as a strong line-up can make all the difference when it comes to playing COD.

How can I see the games?:

Plenty of resources are available as to when and where games are taking place through the official callofdutyleague.com site. Being a relatively new iteration of the league, the event will be finding its home online in the years to come, but you should be able to find matches available through Twitch and YouTube. Call of Duty has their own official channel on Twitch, with games and events being live-streamed regularly, so this will be a good place to start. In the past the CWL and the Pro League have been consistently available, so this is unlikely to change, with many of the older games being open to watch through YouTube.

How to Bet COD League:

BetOnline: On the main page you’ll find ‘Esports’ located in the navigation bar, just below the sign-in for the site itself. Using this you can then find all of the available eSports rolling down the page, with ‘Today’ and ‘Outright’ up above. Usually you’ll be able to find ‘To Win COD League’ under ‘Outright’, offering all the teams playing, although you should be able to find upcoming matches under ‘Today’ too, depending on whether or not a match is happening that day.

Bet365 Sportsbook: Using ‘Sports’ at the top of the main page, ‘Esports’ should then be available to you on the left side of the page. This will take you through to all the eSport events in the middle of the page. ‘COD – Call of Duty League’ is there in the middle, along with the bets that open out. Choose which ones you want by selecting them and creating your betting slip.

COD League Betting Strategy:

While understanding the mechanics of the first-person shooter is simple enough, you want to focus more on the team aspects of the game. How the players react with one another is essential, especially when looking at the many different tactics and strategies preferred and used by various teams over the years. The environmental factors surrounding them is also an essential component of the game, as how they use each map can affect the outcome of any given match.

As a game, Call of Duty can be extremely precise when it comes to defeating the other team, and any weak link or player can make all the difference in the overall outcome. Watching older matches and tournaments can help you get started, researching your way to a more rounded and informed wager.
