Dragons, or Drakes, are commonly found in the dragon pit beside the river of Summoner’s Rift in League of Legends. Featured in each match, they spawn after a short period of time, providing powers and bonuses to those who kill them, along with their team-mates. This then leads to the LoL map Dragon’s prop bets, which we’ll now look at here, whilst also looking at how you can potentially profit from them.
There are different types of dragons featured in LoL, with many of them being based upon their elemental attributes. Killing them will generally offer the ‘Dragon Slayer’ buff, which is all important when it comes to winning any given game of League. Providing the team with different bonuses based on the type of dragon killed, it allows the team to essentially push forwards. Another buff granted is that of the ‘Aspect of the Dragon’, which is granted to those that kill the Elder Dragon, offering a different selection of power-ups.
How does this affect your bets in the long-run though, and what do you stand to gain when putting down any kind of money? We’ll now go over this, what it all means, and what you can do to help make your money go even further.

What is LoL Map Dragons?
Known as both ‘Drake’ and ‘Drag’, the Dragon is the second most powerful neutral monster in any game of League, coming in just after the Baron. Killing them will grant the players and their team-mates with a range of different bonuses, which can occur over the course of any given map, or match. It will typically take around five minutes for the first dragon to spawn in-game, with five minutes in-between each spawning and six minutes between Elder Dragons.
With elemental dragons remaining in the game till the thirty-five minute mark, Elder Dragons will then spawn after that. This is what the dragons themselves will look like during any specific game of League of Legends, and how they’re generally used:
- Elementals: When it comes to Drakes, there’s Cloud which offers speed, Infernal offering attack damage, Ocean restoring health, and the Mountain providing turret and monster damage.
- Dragon Slayer: This is the general neutral buff that’s applied after killing an elemental Drake, and these passives, as mentioned, remain until the game’s end.
- Aspect of the Dragon: This buff is given to the team that kills the Elder Dragon, lasting for two and a half minutes, doubling to five when the second is killed, increasing everyone’s strength.
The rush to be the first to kill a dragon is especially important to take note of, as it’s usually the job of the Jungler, the champion who covers the area between the lanes, to deal with them. What can you look out for then, when betting on the outcome of any map when it comes to the dragons?
Common LoL Map Dragons Questions:
Which props are involved with the dragons in any map?:There’s a number of props open when it comes to the dragons in any given map, or match, of League of Legends. You can place money on the ‘First Dragon’ to be killed in a game, predicting which team will manage it. Then you have the ‘Total Dragons Slain’, as you can bet upon how many dragons you think each team will kill, along with an over/under available on the final tally. Used both together you can effectively spread your money between them, allowing you to combine them with some of the larger overall bets too.
What should I look for when placing money down on the dragons?:
To start with it’s whoever is handling the jungle areas that you first want to look to, as the Jungler is the key component in these particular props. First to deal with any dragons face-to-face, this player is the one who will either call the rest of the team to arms, or take care of it themselves. Watching older games is a great place to begin, as you need to take note of people who are quick to respond, knowing the terrain inside out. Timing everything up is essential as, for many, taking down the dragons as soon as they spawn and before the opposition is a finely tuned process.
How to Bet LoL Map Dragons:
Using the ‘Sports’ tab first of all, you want to go ahead and select ‘Esports’ from the navigation bar down below on the next. Then you can use the ‘All Esports’ roll-down menu, choosing ‘League of Legends from underneath, taking you through to all the events. Opening them out, you should then get the matches themselves rolling down the screen, with the amount of bets beside each one, and then, depending upon availability, the props themselves will be listed under ‘Other Props’.
Bet365 Sportsbook:
The first thing you want to do is choose ‘Esports’ from down the left side of the screen, and then you’ll have all the eSports themselves listed alphabetically down the page. Opening up the ‘Lines’ subsection, you should then find ‘Map – Dragons’ with the number of the map, taking you through to all the props concerning the Dragons for that event. You can also find all the individual props under the other betting markets for the event as well, such as ‘Total Dragons Slain’.
LoL Map Dragons Betting Strategy:
This is an interesting prop bet to combine with others, as it provides a number of different and unique combinations. It’s best to start with the amount of Dragons killed, as this is more of a numbers based bet than those based on the Barons. Killing them more frequently, the Jungler will be taking many of them down by themselves, which is why focusing on this particular player is best here.
Get a clear understanding of their approach to the game and how they handle themselves throughout the course of the map. Watching older matches will help you, along with keeping up-to-date with who is playing and when, and you should increase your chances of seeing a profit greatly.
